Curtis Park History
Curtis Park's nostalgic and historic neighborhood saw a transformation in the early teens and twenties of the last century. Many of the homes were divided up in to small living units. What was once intended as single family occupation became boarding houses whereby one or two rooms would share a single bathroom all sharing common eating areas.

During the 1940's the older established residents began leaving the area and many Mexican-Americans started moving in. after the outbreak of World War II , large numbers of Japanese Americans also came to live in Curtis Park. Despite the stability brought to the neighborhood these groups brought to Curtis Park, the neighborhood began to decline in the 1960's & early 1970's. Many homes could be seen boarded up and vacant.

In 1975 revitalization came to the area and many of these old boarded up homes began to see new life again. a new migration of people for the love of old houses brought the Curtis Park community alive again. Curtis Park today remains what it always has been; a neighborhood of people from different places and backgrounds. It's diversity remains it's strength.
