Metro Denver offers one of the most thriving business economies in the country

Metro Denver offers one of the most thriving business economies in the country, as well as top-ranked educational institutions, vibrant cultural and recreation opportunities, and championship sports teams.

Counties: Adams County, Arapahoe County, Boulder County, City and County of Broomfield, City and County of Denver, Douglas County, and Jefferson County

The seven counties and 60 communities of Metro Denver are served by one of the best transportation systems in the nation.

The $1.67 billion T-REX project widened Interstates 25 and I-225 and added 19 miles of light rail connecting Metro Denver’s two largest employment centers: The Central Business District and the Denver Tech Center. A grand opening celebration took place in November 2006, nearly two years ahead of schedule.

With access to one of the nation’s most highly educated workforces, these “knowledge-based” industries thrive in Metro Denver.

Being active is a state of mind here. Denver has the largest public parks system of any U.S. city. In addition, thousands of acres of open space have been preserved throughout the Metro Denver area, allowing citizens to enjoy activities such as hiking, biking, walking, and snowshoeing–literally in their backyards.

Colorado currently has the lowest obesity rate in the nation and, as a result, annual health insurance rates in the Denver area are about $400 cheaper than the national average. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reports that the obesity rate in Colorado is 17.8 percent compared to the national rate of 24.4 percent.
