Do you hate to find change to plug Denver parking meters?

The Denver parking Cash Key is a refillable, electronically programmed key that will work in any Downtown parking meter.

Have you ever parked at a meter and had to dig through your ashtray, under the seats or in the glove box to find coins to put in the meter? Denver Parking Management is implementing a new program that will allow you to have quick and easy meter payment right at your fingertips whenever you need it. It’s called the CashKey.

The CashKey is a programmable key that provides a cashless way to pay for electronic parking meters operated by the City of Denver.

meterkey1.jpg The key is programmed when you “buy” time for it. It can be easily attached to your key chain so that each time you park at a meter it’s right there ready to use.

You simply insert the CashKey into a keyhole located next to the coin slot on the meter. For each insertion of the key, the minimum amount for the meter is deducted from the key balance and time is added to the meter. When your key balance gets low, you just purchase more time to have it added to your key. While it won’t guarantee you a parking space, it is a great convenience when you find that really great spot right outside the door!

The Department of Public Works Parking Management Division has the “key to the city” CashKey available at various outlets throughout the downtown area as well as at a central location for additional convenience.
The CashKey works like a debit card, it is programmable and provides a cashless way to pay for electronic parking meters operated by the City of Denver. There are 6,800 meters throughout Denver in which the CashKey will operate. The key is programmed when you “buy” time for it. The CashKey is available in increments of $5.00 from a $25.00 minimum to a $500.00 maximum, with an initial deposit of $15.00.

The deposit is refundable if the CashKey is returned in reissuable condition. The CashKey can be easily attached to your key chain so that each time you park at a meter it’s right there ready to use.

TIPS FOR PARKING IN DOWNTOWN DENVER

1. Read all signs before leaving your vehicle. Non-metered spaces often have time limit or other restrictions that apply.
2. Meters are meant for short-term parking. If your trip is expected to take more than two hours, plan to park in a garage or parking lot.
3. Park your vehicle within the space provided. At meters this means the bumpers should not extend beyond the meter post.
4. Never park more than 18 inches from any curb; about one and one half shoe lengths.
5. Time limits are posted on all meters. When the time has lapsed your vehicle must be
moved to another location (more than 100 feet) or it can be ticketed. Meters aremeant for short term visits.
6. Remember to watch the posted enforcement times on meters; signed spaces areenforced 24 hours per day.
