The Denver-Aurora metro area had the ninth-highest foreclosure rate in the nation in 2007, according to RealtyTrac, which today released an analysis of the country’s largest 100 metropolitan areas.
The Denver homes area was ranked the highest in the nation by Irvine-Calif.-based RealtyTrac for much of 2006, while many other housing markets in other parts of the country were soaring.
In RealtyTrac’s latest report, Detroit had the highest foreclosure rate in the country. In Detroit, which has the nation’s highest unemployment rate at 8 percent, 4.9 percent of households were in some stage of foreclosure. That’s nearly five times the national average.
Stockton, Calif., ranked second with about 4.8 percent of its households in some stage of foreclosure, while the Las Vegas metro area was third with 4.2 percent of its homes in some stage of foreclosure.
